Who wants to read the New Testament in the month of June?

Looking for a challenge? Something to nudge yourself out of the comfort zone?

Consider joining me in a challenge to read through the entire New Testament in the month of June. It’s not a stunt to try and make ourselves acceptable to God. Our justification is a gift that was given to us in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ upon the cross.

I want to grow in my affection for the Holy Scriptures, and to increasingly benefit from the transformation that God works through the renewing of our minds (Rom. 12:2). Want to come along for the ride?

Below is a plan I put together that breaks the New Testament down into daily readings for each week day in the month of June. Weekends are days off, or can also be used to catch up if you get off track a little. I estimate the time commitment at around 40 minutes per day, but that will vary based on how quickly you read.

The plan is fairly simple: each of the four gospels is placed at regular intervals through the balance of the books. I plan to post a blog entry each day of the challenge, and I would love it if participants would use the comments to share about what you’re experiencing each day.

Ideally, I should have tried to announce this much earlier to give everyone a chance to “gear up” for the challenge. But even if you can’t start on June 1, let me encourage you to begin as soon as you can with the assigned reading for the day, and use the weekend to catch up on any days you missed.
