Tina Fey’s unfunny debut

Based on her work on Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock, Tina Fey is one of today’s superstars of comedy.

But you would never have known it by seeing her 1995 screen debut in this drab little commercial for a bank. There’s nothing to suggest that she would be capable of an outrageously funny impersonation of Sarah Palin.

Everybody wants to be an overnight success. I know I do. Unfortunately, achievement usually comes only to those to faithfully work at something over the long haul. You have to be willing to press on past your initial ineptitude before you really hit your stride, and realize how good you can be.

Are you really bad at something that you’re working hard to improve? Personally, I’m wondering if this blog is my “drab little commercial.”
