The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.
There is no speech, nor are there words,
whose voice is not heard.
Their voice goes out through all the earth,
and their words to the end of the world.
(Psalm 19:1-4 ESV)
Sometimes, when I feel distant from the Lord, I’ll get out of the house. I may drive to the nearby beach at sunset, or just walk around the neighborhood. There’s something about being surrounded by Creation that draws my attention to the Creator.
So if your heart isn’t feeling worshipful, look up. The heavens are always declaring the glory of God. Feel free to join in with the declaration that is going out through all the earth … to the end of the world.
How about you? Does being outdoors help you to become more mindful of God?
